New Year's Eve in Grenoble
We spent a few days over New Years in Grenoble. The city was beautiful, and you could see the snow capped mountains rising on all sides every time the clouds cleared. There were lots of things to do. We went to the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museum of Natural History and the Holocaust Museum.
We took a the téléperiphic boules to the top of the hill overlooking Grenoble. We had hoped for a good view, but the as the weather was so poor most of it was obscured by clouds. Still, it was fun and an little like Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator.
At the top of the hill we went to the Mountain Scout Museum and learned about the history of downhill skis.
The transport system shut down at 12:03AM, even on January 1st, so Kiley and I did the only thing near to our hostel to usher in the new years. We went bowling! The disco tech and smoke machine at the alley made for quite a festive evening.
On New Years Day, Kiley and I headed to the Chamrouse, the local ski resort. It was a little hard to see where I was going through the blizzard at the top, but luckily I had my hot new ninja goggles. I still ended up getting lost and having to take a shuttle bus back.
